Falling for Godot

We wanted to create a small game that one can easily play while waiting at the doctor’s office or relaxing in bed. It needed to be extra simple because we were learning a new fantastic tool ..Godot..!
We ended up loving Godot, it surpassed our expectations, especially for the type of game Moko Studio wants to make. We are going to use Godot for the foreseen future games.

A Fun Idea

First off, we love Halloween here! It is such a fun holiday! We got the idea of Pumpkin Squish in October and we decided to go full-on Halloween themed 👻.

The gameplay mechanics were inspired by other merging games and strategy games that we liked. Mainly, an underrated game from flow Inc. called Piyo Piyo (Go check it out!). We found the game very challenging and addictive, it keeps you on the hook because you want to discover the levels that come next!

However, it seemed to have a bottleneck and relied solely on luck. Therefore, we set out to make a game that keeps the spirit of the original but tweaks the gameplay, to ensure that the player could progress and also finish the game using their own unique strategy!
The ability to complete the game, uncovering all levels and icons, was a crucial factor for us, emphasizing player agency and strategy over chance.
